Blood pressure medication
| Jacky
Twenty five years ago I got Graves disease thyrotoxicosis my weight dropped to 5stone 7lbs although I was eating for 10 people. After radio active iodine treatment my weight went back to 8stone and I was feeling great went to doctors for routine check. I have always suffered from white coat syndrome my blood pressure was moderately high and the doctor put me on medication I have been on several brands some of which have nearly killed me, two years ago a doctor did a twenty four hour blood pressure check which was fine and started to reduce all the medication I was on, and I began to feel really well. This doctor retired and his replacement upped my medication from 10mg Ramipril to 20mg Lercanidipine and 10mg Ramipril with a week my arms were covered in a rash breathing problems, cardiac arrhythmia, cramps in my legs and asleep problems. Although I tried to explain to the new doctor it was the pills causing the problem and three chest x-rays finding nothing amiss in my lungs he would not reduce to medication. I cut the lacanidipine in half for a month and then stopped taking it all together. The Ramipril is a capsule so I cant cut it in half I have asked for the pill form but I am always given the capsule. Although you should not just stop taking medication this is probably what I will have to do. I know Doctors are very busy but some do not have the time to listen to you just look in their drugs book and try the next one on the list. regards Jacky

I have taken Zanidip first 20mg then 10mg for about 4 yrs. I have suffered with swollen lower legs and feet
for years, my doctor says I get more from Zanidip than any other medication I am taking. I am afraid I am going
to have to insist I be taken off it because my legs, and the top of my feet look like ulcers are forming they are
very painful.
