I have taken trazodone 100 mg x2 every night for years. The dreams weren't so bad at first but now they are vivid, I have to wake up and make sure it wasn't real before I can go back to sleep. Alot of them involve people being after me to hurt or kill me. M doctor suggested melatonin but from what I've read I don't know if I wanna try that eithrr

I've heard good things about Melatonin. I would much rather take someting OTC versus trazodone.

I have been taking #ambien for a while but the problem I had was that I'd fall asleep quickly, but I'd be awake again in 3 hours. Dr prescribed #trazadone to help me stay asleep. I was fine for the first two months, but recently I started having strange dreams that weren't very realistic, but not scary. Then, this past week, I started having #nightmares that were also strange, but felt so real that I have woken up with full blown panic attacks. I can't go back to sleep at all! Tonight, I was only asleep for 2-3 hours before I woke up.

I was prescribed ambien and to me it was like just drinking a glass of water it did nothing. a lot of people swear by it that it is so great but it does not work for me and I was also thinking maybe you should get an anti-anxiety medicine like xanax or something because I have to take xanax everyday I would have nightmares where I'd wake up and be crying and if you had xanax or some other anti anxiety medication that works pretty quick then you should be able to go back to sleep

I was on Trazodone for my depression and insomnia. I used to take 100 ~ 150 mg before sleep and about 50%~75% of times I get really bad nightmares but when I lowered to 50mg, I was sleepy enough and when to sleep and no nightmares! I guess lowering the does enough to put u to sleep is the key. I think only 5%~10% will have mild nightmares or weird vivid dream on 50mg. But for me 50mg was the key! Try lowering ur dose to 50mg or enough to make u sleepy. Good luck!. Now, I'm on Ambien and Clonaze

I was taking Trazadone as an antidepressant at night but then it started giving me severe night terrrors. I found that the things in my life that were causing me to become depressed were now haunting me in my dreams. I couldn't escape! Instead of being an antidepressant it only reminded me of all the things I hated and my nightmares would haunt me all day long until I fell asleep again and the cycle continues.
I'm sticking to medical marijuana to help me sleep and it always makes me feel happy.

I also experienced bad nightmares and decided to stop taking it. I have been able to get normal sleep on lexapro 10mg but I developed tinnitus after starting both at the same time as my Dr. prescribed and this has not resolved since stopping the Trazodone almost 1.5 months ago.
