Can I take Aleve with hydrochlorothiazide

Why the hell are we having our medications made in India?
| tickedoff
I was on Valsartan 320mg/HCTZ 25mg daily for 14 years for my blood pressure from Mylan. Last year 5/2015 CVS switched me to that medication made by Aurobindo Pharm. Over a 5 month period my blood pressure increased slowly until it was 200/100 at home. Was seen in the ER that night and asked them why I had no symptoms of my pressure rising and they said it was because it was going up slowly and my body had become accustomed to the higher pressures. So I can only surmise that they were not putting the correct amounts of the medications in the pills. I have had to go on the name brand Diovan and it is costing me a fortune each month. Plus I'm having to deal with my insurance to get them to pay for the medication. No pharmacy in the city where I live has Mylan's brand of this medication and CVS will not order it for me. So let's save money and get our medications made in a 3rd world country so that our country can kill off more people with inferior medicines.

Tachycardia from Hydrochlorothiazide
| John
I took HCTZ for about 5-7 years. In the last three or so years of that time I had episodic tachycardia that reached levels of approximately once per month in 2014. In addition the episodes increased to approximately once per week leading up to a time of stress (work related). The episodes receded to the previous frequency when the period of stress ended. These periods of tachycardia lasted approximately 5-10 min each. Heart rate during these episodes was approximately 120/min.
Following heart aortic valve and aortic root replacement surgery, the tachycardia returned episodically. However, the episodes were longer lasting, with some lasting two or so hours. Heart rate increased to 120-140/min during these episodes. Four-five months after surgery I experienced 4 episodes in three days. During two of these episodes I felt light headed to the extent that I thought that I might pass out. I am not sure of the length of these episodes, but think that they ranged in length from 10-30 min.
At this time my cardiologist instructed me to stop taking HCTZ. In the five months since I stopped taking the HCTZ I have had two episodes. These episodes lasted approximately 20 min and 60 min. I did not feel light-headed during either of these episodes.
During these episodes I did feel a bit funny, had decreased energy during the episodes, and was tired afterward for a few hours.
