My wife was on oxycodone for years and ran into a lot of problems. She now takes Exalgo, a time released pill that she said works great and without all the side effects of oxy. She has chronic pain and says this works great. Get off the oxy. It's not easy to do but do it in steps. I also was on it and am now free of it

grand mal seizure and oxycodone
Oxycodon will not cause seizures on its own when decreasing dosage or even when in full blown withrawel. You will feel like complete shit but unless there is an underlying health issue opiates/opioids are usually fairly safe to come off of. The addictive a substances that have dangerious withdrawels and can cause seizures if not properly tapered off are benzos (i.e. Xanax) and alchohol.

Had you recently decreased your oxycodone dose (by even a small amount) or missed a dose (even if you didn't immediately feel any ill effects after the skipped dose)?
I had a seizure a few years ago after taking less of my xanax than usual for a couple days in a row. At first they couldn't find a cause for the episode, but ultimately chalked it up a change in the amount of xanax in my system. After years on high daily doses of xanax, my body took that as the norm and carried out its other funct

All Zydus generics
I am on 20 mg 4 times a day of Roxicodone. CVSis the pharmacy I always use n they give me the kvk brand up till this past month. I receive no pain relief from the brand Zydus. I also itchy as if I am elergic reaction n have to take Benadrial. I called Cvs and the told me this zydus brand is what there warehouse sends them. I then went to my doctors office and told his nurse the problem and her response was because of the FDA there was nothing they can do. So, I now am forced to lay in the bed h

I just had the same experience with Zydus Labs 15 mg oxycodone. Panic, stomach issues, dilated pupils, heart palpitations. That's after only taking those for 3 days. I took them back to doctor, he wrote another prescription for the balance of unused meds. I called Zydus Labs and FDA, placed a adverse affect form with both. Now I have KVK brand, so much better.

exalgo
Exalgo is very strong but it takes a few days to get up to full strength in the body. I take 2 oxycodone 10mg every 4 hours but after being prescribed exalgo 16mg I just take one in the morning and I'm good all day. Only need the oxy when break through pain gets tough.

oxycodone/sleep apnea
Although medicines affect everyone differently which is very true! If you Doctor orders a diagnostic test do not blow it off get it done you never know what could save your life. The most important thing is to have a great relationship with your Doctor and have one that you can trust and trusts you!!

To Mary, sorry to hear about your story. It sounds like your daughter might have coincidentally developed a psychotic condition e.g. schizophrenia independently of the oxycodone. Not that I am a big fan of oxy, but if you get fixated on oxy as the cause of your daughter's psychosis, no one will take you seriously as opioids simply do not cause chronic psychosis (they can cause acute delirium). Hope things get better for you and your daughter.

It would be nice to have some kind of warning about comment length. Over half my last comment got cut off and lost, and nothing told me I had gone over any character limit. All that work, and pain, to type it out, and gone!

That's right. All opioids can cause central sleep apnea, do to their respiratory depression effect. All meds of any kind can cause various adverse reactions in some people. But different people do react differently to different drugs. It's a matter of you and your doctor deciding if the benefits outweigh the risks.

Although opioids do tend to give me apnea, I need the pain control, and so I accept the adverse effects. I take morphine, with oxy for breakthrough, because the methadone I used t

My daughter was on Oxy (presecribed by an incompetent GP) and after little over a year & Many pills later she became Psychotic from the meds. It was the only medicine she was taking & I watched the progression of the psychosis. I don't care what the drug companies Phony Reports say. Oxy Can Cause Psychosis---and it doesn't wear Off (even after the meds are stopped--we are over a year now!) and there Is No Cure. I hate the pharmaceutical companies they ruined my daughter's life--and her entire f

Also, I started out on 5 pain meds....down to just this one. And after being seen by a Maximized Living Chiropractor (beginning 11/2013) I have decreased the oxycodone by 30 pills a month - 3 months ago.

I am 45, female and have been on oxycodone for 9 years and do not have sleep apnea. The sleep study verified that. sorry, but meds don't have the same effect on everyone.
