Vasovagal syncope in minor children
i am searching for anyone with knowledge of vasovagal syncope related to stress in minor children. My 9 year old daughter has been sick since last Thursday with a stomach bug. She had gotten sick a few times until yesterday. No vomiting and she has had plenty of fluids and kept them down. Last night, she called me to her and said she felt sick and she was scared because her vision was blurry and she couldn't see well. Within minutes she asked me to help her and she started to sway. I grabbed her and ran to the sofa, and within seconds she passed out. Single most scariest experience I've had so far. The ER physician said that this was from her vomiting and dehydration but didn't run any test, besides the ones that I requested because I didn't feel comfortable leaving, being thaf this had never happened before and she has been much sicker in the past. I googled vasovagal and came across something saying that stress can cause this as well. She is aware of a custody issue between her father and I as he doesn't quite understand the importance of allowing her to remain 9 and uninvolved. She has been so upset over what he has said to her about what he is seeking that I'm curious if it could have contributed to this episode. If so, I would like to discuss with him the value of leaving her out. Unfortunatley, during times like this, as much as we try as parents, We aren't perfect and kids do sometimes hear more than they should. I am just looking for answers because I would like to ensure that whatever it is that contributed to this episode is adressed as quickly as possible.
