Shortness of breath and Metoprolol
I have taken Lisinopril for years, since I was 36 and I had a heart attack. (I now, at age 54, have seven stents, altho the heart attack was caused by a blood clot). Metoprolol was added about a year ago. I began having problems breathing, thought my asthma, which I was not diagnosed with until in my 40's, was getting worse.

I get my medicine from the VA. Support myself on about 10 bucks an hour. My doctor, thinking she was helping me, had three months worth of medicines mailed to me, three separate times. That was about 300 bucks in one pop, 900 bucks after it happening three times.

The VA charges interest if you are late with payments. They will also keep part of your income tax. I have no problem with this. Expected it.

Anyway, I made sure they know to send only one month worth of medicine. I didn't order any medicine for about a month, just so I would not be adding to the interest.

About 2 weeks ago I noticed I was not having a single problem breathing. (It was so bad that at times I could barely make it across a parking lot or a room)

Last week I ordered three of my meds. One was Metoprolol. They came in the mail yesterday. I took them before I went to sleep, work nights. When I woke up, I COULD NOT BREATHE again.

Not taking it any more! It is now later in the evening, the next day, the med has worn off. I can breathe.

Metoprolol is a generic is generic of Toprol, and can be obtained at $4 for 30 days at Kroger Pharm. But you need to try something else and make sure you tell your doctor that you want generic. Most generic works as well as the brand name, but the doctors are fed and entertained by the pharmaceutical companies to prescribe the brand name, BRIBERY?

Metaprolol vs. Verapamil
Glad to hear that. I was on Verapimil for 5-6 years but finally had to stop due to out of control gum swelling (a side effect). Was put on Metaprolol earlier this year, but now am experiencing severe joint pain throughout my body. Going to ask the doc soon for something different.

Blood Clot
I am on Metoprolol Succinate, 25 mg twice a day for BP control. My pulse can go down to the 50's but it is mostly between 60 and 80 during the 12 hours till next dose. I recently had an eschemic stroke and I am wondering if it contributed to the clot, along with Hydrochlorothiazide I was taking.
