Lots of times with many not all but many of the generic brands don't use as much of the active ingredient to save $$$$ for the drug companies. This mainly happens with prescription drugs and not OTC meds. That's probably y the generic does not work as well for u.

Zyrtec is just a brand name. Cetirizine HCL is the chemical name. They are one and the same. Just like Advil is the brand name for Ibuprofen.
