Avoid eating foods that contains potassium and nitrates bec these thiccken the blood. avoid eating salty foods bec salt retains water in our body that make our heart hard to pump more blood in and out of the heart. Salt makes the heart weaker.

Now . I have had aortic and mitral valves replaced. I don't eat foods that make my INR raise to a level of more than 3. My range should be bet. 2.5 to3. Green leafy veg. And beer. Wine and liquor will lower the INR that will make the blood thicker. Avoid these foods and drinks.

Hi Mike. I'm from the Philippines but I live in California . I have had my surgery in 2010 valves (metallic) replacement I'm taking warfarin 2mg a day. Lisonopril metoprolol simbastatin and and baby aspirin 81 mg. I do have blood check every 3 weeks. Sometimes my INR are so low that I need to increase my Coumadin .at present it's so high that I need to lower my Coumadin. It's really hard to be in this situation because of high cause of medicine, doctors and nurse that I pay. This for life no
