My extreme 10 yr urinary incontinence stopped after 2 days on 100mg doxycycline treatment for tick bite. Limited urination & right hip pain. Apparent bacterial redness, swelling in arm cleared up quickly. Am afraid Kidney's have shut down. 66yrs old.

Actually you can take doxy with food, there is no evidence that food interacts with doxycycline. You're stomach just needs a high level of HCL acid for doxy to work. Just don't take it with anything that contains high levels of Calcium in it. No DAIRY!

bactrim and prednisone
Yesterday I was prescribed Prednisone & SMZ/TMP Generic for Bactrim. The SMZ/TMP is making my stomach feel queezy, strange dreams, slight fever. The first day on the combo I felt better, now I feel like I'm back to square 1... Not a good feeling
Mike M.  |  October 9, 2014
While both drugs can potentially cause these side effects, prednisone in particular can commonly cause anxiety reactions, including insomnia.
Definitely contact your doctor to get their opinion; if it's severe enough to bother you that much, your doctor may change you to something else or alter your dosage.

Nightmares
Me too. Three days worth and I dreamt my cat got out and fell down a fifty foot hole in the driveway. That was the least of the dreams. Stopped the pills after three days but following night had the cat dream. Believe can take anything from a week to three months to get out of the system, depending on amount taken. My very best wishes to your daughter and well done for spotting something wrong.

I have been taking these twice a day for almost the last month for my perioral dermititis. I did try taking them without food which is the best way for them to be more effective. However; I did notice that especially in the morning it makes me quite nauseous. You MUST drink alot of water and even if you do you may have to eat a little with them. It is a pretty powerful antibiotic and honestly one of the main issues can be dehydration which can cause all of the symptoms listed in previous post.
Larisa  |  March 24, 2014
Were you guys eating with your antibiotics? They can make you very sick on an empty stomach.

I was put on Doxy 1 100 mg 2 times a day. I started a heacache and nauseous feeling. Kept taking them until the 5th day. My headache was so severe, nausea was worse. I couldn't take the headache anymore. Looked up side effects of doxy and first one was a severe and unusual headache, then nausea....etc. I stopped them, drank lots of water to flush it out of me. Headache gone within a couple of days. Spoke to my dr and got a script for something different.
Whew, worst headache ever!
