Tramadol makes me very hyper - not sedated at all. I had a decreased appetite, lots of energy and felt great. So I suppose that could be addicting, however, I took it for 3 months, and had no withdrawal symptoms at all. No side effects except weight loss, and my mother told me I was more pleasant to be around. Which, of course, made me wonder if I was normally unpleasant.

Dry chapped lips & dry mouth
There is a mouthwash and toothpaste called Biotene. It helps some but not a lot. Chapstick definitely does make your lips more chapped. Try chewing sugar free gum. I drink a lot of water daily as well. A dry mouth also drastically increases your chances of cavities. I have been on adderall for five months and my lips still chap at times and my mouth is dry. The worst side effect for me has been canker sores. My benefits still outweigh my side effects, so I'm still taking it.
February 1, 2015
Stop using chapstick it makes your lips more chapped. I know it sounds crazy. Your body is DEHYDRATED! Drink at least a gallon of water every day. Stop drinking diet sodas and suger drinks or you will fry your brain and your skin! I know it seems tough but stop biting your lips and putting chap stick on them. If you're going to use any product use CarMax atnight before bed don't put it on all the time or it will get worse.

The rest of my comment seemed to have been cut off, so I'll just finish it up by saying that some of the side-effects of true narcotics - like nightmares and itching or "crawling" skin - happen with tram too at higher doses, but they'll drop away again whenever you lower the dose, or even on their own at sustained higher doses (so long as the higher doses are taken as ordered and not messed with or abused. Moving between 50mg and 100mg as you are doing is fine.

Nightmares are a common side-effect of opiate use, from the beast that is Morphine all the way down to little tramadol which contains only a small amount of synthetic opioid and has very weak effects on the u-opioid receptor - amounting to about 15% of the pain relief provided. The remaining 85% of tramadol's makeup is basically an SNRI anti-depressant, like Effexor or Milnacipran. In other words, as far as narcotics go, Tramadol barely qualifies as one, if at all. BUT it still has a few of the

In response to FedUp, I have numerous suggestions. If he is not thinking clearly than you must accompany him to his next doctor's appointment with a knowlegable physician who has an expertise in your husband's condition. I am not a physician but I am in the medical industry and there are potentially numerous other medications available for your husband based on hid specific condition. Start by getting off Adderall and replace it with one or a combo. of the following: 1. Stimulants: modafinil

I can relate to the previous posts. I am on Adderall 30mg XR and have been a functional black out almost every time that I drink. No one around me can tell I am wasted from only a drink or two because I appear to be coherent. It really is a scary feeling to wake up and not remember the night before.

I completely agree with the previous comment, "If you're on these meds you shouldn't drink at all. Or you will turn into a bipolar manic depressive."

Yes that happened to me all the time sober or drinking. I recently quit drinking because of it. I am still taking Adderall 35 days without any wine or beer. I've picked my cuticles for as long as I can remember. I started taking adderall three years ago and I've experienced what I believe to be excoriation disorder (dermatillomania). It's also started to last after my doses wear off, like into the rest of the day or the next day to the point where I don't even realize it until someone tells me to stop touching my head. @ krinh: This is why: Adderall dehydrates you so if you're not drinking at least your proper daily liter amount (which is based on weight, activity level, etc.) you'll suffer from a dry mouth as you probably know and this affects your normal saliva production. So the higher the dosage and the more frequently you take them you're are more prone to develop tonsil stones within the pockets of the tonsil area. one of my "symptoms" not side effects actually is talking excessively which runs in the hyperactivity class of ADHD. There are actually 4 different classifications of ADHD which include 1. Nikki23  |  May 26, 2014
Unless you were abusing the Adderall for all those years, it is not the cause of your tooth loss. Bruxism is a common problem with any type of stimulant, so is dry mouth. Both of those problems can be easily identified remedied. To blame a prescription level of adderall for losing all of your teeth by age 35 is more than a little bit silly. Drinking sodas or other sugary foods, improper dental care, some diseases, there are plenty of things that can cause tooth loss like you describe. Tak

The swollen joints and bad headache might be a sign that your blood pressure is very high! With all of the different things you take and smoking on top of that I would say please get it checked! Adderrall raises your BP, smoking raises your BP, lack of sleep raises your BP. A headache feeling taking over your body might be your blood vessels being so swollen and the pressure of your blood trying to pump through them. Just speaking from experience =)

The first- I was not drinking enough water. The second- I had other issues below the surface which were causing me to sweat, like deep fears and things that I needed help for.

I too have had significantly increased armpit odor since starting Adderall a few years ago. Adderall is metabolized by the liver. The liver is already busy breaking down toxins so they can be flushed out of the body (environmental toxins, pesticides, etc.) When I am careful to limit the foods that also make the liver work extra hard, (alcohol, sugar, preservatives, dyes, and for me specifically, wheat) the smell goes away. Not immediately. It takes maybe a week? And until then, I sometimes

I took Adderall 20 Xr (Orange pill) and I never experienced any odors or excess sweating, but the fact that Adderall is a stimulant and increases bodily function by releasing epinephrine(adrenaline) may be the cause of the symptoms you guys are experiencing.

I just recently started taking Adderall XR 10 mg daily to help with treatment of a rare sleep-wake disorder that I have called Idiopathic hypersomnia (plus I have ADHD). I've never taken Adderall XR or any Adderall before. I, too, am not a sweaty or smelly person, and I have NEVER had body odor, and now I do, in my pits (mostly my left one). I figured it was the Adderall XR doing this to me since I've never had to deal with any body odor, and it's only started since taking Adderall XR. Thanks f

I have an extreme increase of smell since taking Adderall. I can't have air fresheners in my house anymore since Adderall. I can smell the liter box that is on the other side of my apartment even if the cat has only used it once. I was writing with a sharpie the other day and I felt like I was going to pass due to how strong the smells seemed. It is really strange but not in your head.
$taceFace  |  April 11, 2014
No it's definitely not in your head. There are several other forums that discuss a distinct smell people can sometimes get while taking Adderall. I used to take the orange ovals and I get a weird odor with that one. When I take the circular blue ones...it makes my right armpit stink and sweat profusely. I'm not a sweaty person at all and I have NEVER had body odor issues until being on Adderall. My mother works for a doctor that helps people that have excessive body odor and excessive swea

I am pretty sure it is all in your head.. yes you may be sweating more, which is caused from the Adderall.. but yeah I would have to apply old spice plenty of times..then I just wore a tighter under shirt and I was fine.. I would be sweating my natural body odor.. and yes that made my worry that I smell like BO but nope! its all in your head... have a great day !

I am currently battling what looks and feels like psoriasis on my eyes, spreading quite quickly. Extremely itchy. Have been told that it's 'definitely eczema' and 'just dermatitis' by doctors and have been prescribed numerous creams, none of which are helping at all really.

The only thing I can think is that I'm either having a reaction to some certain shower gels, or it's the tramadol which I have been taking for horrendously bad back pain, (the amount of time taking tramadol and itchiness ar

Try to find a MD who is a pain management specialist along with being an addiction specialist or addictionologist. These doctors are much more knowledgeable on pain management along with other treatment that will help support your pain management. For example, my pain management MD had me on a pain med from a chronic injury. He also discovered I needed testosterone. After a year of treatment my chronic pain was feeling so much better that we decided to try to stop the pain meds. The MD kne

Adderall and opiates is speed balling, especially at those levels. Your basically doing heroin and meth.

In some ways adderall can help deflect some aspects of opiate withdrawal (OW). For one, adderall is a stimulant--duh! When one is going through OW is can be the closet event in one's life to walking through hell for a week (or 2-3 if methadone). The very fact of taking "something" helps fulfill the underlying addiction problem and, just conjecture, probably helps silence the kappa receptors for a bit. What adderall most certainly does for OW is provide you much needed energy and strength. Like

I don't know if you have this is in your area but there is an herb called Kratom that helps ALOT with opiate withdrawal. You can find it in headshops depending where you live or online. It's from thailand and all natural. Unfortunately the FDA is trying to ban it because they are overreacting and thinking it's heroin so it might not be available in your are but I've used it to withdrawal before and it really helps. As far as the Adderall I abused it before and all I can say is you'll just have

Wow I can relate on the adderall part, my prescription only lasts me 7-8 days. If I feel like it's wearing off at all I take another (XR 30mg). I told my doctor at my next visit I want to try something else... After the monthly withdrawal of a week.. My house will be a disaster and I'll get it back to normal, feel like myself again, go to my doctor and go through it all again. I love how focused I get, and I'm able to do so much, yet I hate the feeling you get when you know your body needs food

Oh man, I feel you! I was on a methedone program for 3 years. I was put on adderall a few months ago. I FINALLY got off the program. Try Freefromhell.com. Lots of info and LOTS of support! I hated it, but I was lucky I had my withdraw in a new unfamiliar area, no connections, and not even a car or money any way. Day 4 was my peak. Try to sleep and if you can't just TRY and keep your mind active. Nothing straining, but off of the pain and sadness. KEEP A SENSE of humor! I recorded this really st

I think is a little unfair and slightly narcissistic. Perhaps you have a light case of ADD that can easily be managed "as needed". There are those of us who's ADD has severely effected their life. Just like with alcohol, illegal drugs and plain old non prescription food, there are people who abuse, overuse and become dependent. I have been on Adderall for over a year. It has significantly improved almost every aspect of my life. I am currently taking Vyvanse which is an extended version of Adde

It sucks I truly believe, I should say I know I have ADD at first I thought my doc was crazy.. It's really helped a lot, just know that I have to be careful! Maybe see if there's an herbal regimen that will help with ADD.. If you know of any herbal remedy, please share..

wow! your story is very similar to mine. I totally agree with you. Aderall should only be taken as needed. i started taking it in January this year and of course it does make a difference when i take it to take a test or if i have a long lecture that i need to focus. Today i just orded Ginkgo biloba because i would like to try something natural instead. I'll let you know how that works. :)

Say what ? How do you think I got tramadol. DR wrote me a script. Now maybe he had no real exp with epilepsy. I was 6 yrs free of siezures until I was off my meds for awhile. Sure enough epilepsy is going to be around 4 ever. So taking tramadol is better than taking narcotics for pain relief. I will take my chances with medical supervision. Threshold this and that. Even before I took my siezures serious , I was lucky 1 @ year to1 1/2 off siezure free. Mine are clearly stress related also h

I tramadol all the time with 500mg of keppra. Mood swings oh boy. Agitated oh my lord everyday with anxiety. Mother nature is on my side. I smoke herb for medical reasons now.
martin  |  December 28, 2014
Keppra is a seizure med. It made my wife go through what you described. Her doc changed her to lamotragene (spelling is off on that). My concern is that tramadol is not supposed to be taken by people with epilepsy. Or anyone with a higher chance of seizures. It lowers the threshold for seizures. So if you have seizures and are still taking tramadol, please talk to your doctor asap..m its not safe.

Solution to Bloating and Chest Tightness while on Adderall xr?
This is normal with adderall xr. IR typically does not cause these reactions in most. Tell your prescribing Dr. Exactly what is going on. He will help. Your drs are always there to help, they are the only ones who can decipher what will help. Give him a call. It sounds like an issue. I took xr and had the same horrible problems _so i told my dr pros and cons and we tried ir it works better for me but everybody is going to react to this differently especially with all the shit generics out there

OMG! I JUST found out something I never thought of as I was googling about the sudden bloating , etc since switching from concerta (brand) to adderall xr generic-- THE GENERIC adderall contains things I am allergic to!! Corn starch, DAIRY, and along with ANY corn product, usually comes the GLUTEN contamination !! It never occurred to me that these " fillers" used for the generics ( sometimes even brand, depending on the med) would be used in any medication!! Especially without some kind of war

Well I realized this was a year ago, but before taking Adderall, eat a light healthy meal, and avoid caffeinated drinks or juices, and drink plenty of water and Gatorade, but make sure your are near a bathroom because I experienced diarrhea about 30-40min. after I take it. by the way I started off on Adderall xr 20mg 1 pill a day
April 24, 2014
This is way to obvious. Why in the world would somebody prescribe 15 mg to start. I started on 5 years ago and almost stopped because of somewhat similar stuff, no bloating. Many years later I take between 11-15 mg per dose after moving to 7, then 10 etc. With the 5mg when I started taking Magnesium and some other supps and eating much better the drug worked much better without the chest tightness etc. Its a strong drug and you need to have all the proper cofactors and nutrients to help regula

Along with what - j - has written , which is as good of advice as you'll find I can promise you that -- I just want you to understand that because you're now super focused symptoms you most likely had before taking the stimulant is now magnified. I suggest you read up on Candida and try Activia yogurt to balance out the good and bad ratio of 80 / 20 ( I think that's correct ) -- Now that you're taking this enhancement drug -- which is how I think of it -- you need to prepare your body for wh

I have tried almost all the pill forms of medicine for adhd and adderall works the best for me. It does however upset my stomach sometimes and my intestines because it is a strong stimulant. So I understand the feeling you are talking about. I agree that water is key with adderall since it can dehydrate you. So always lots of water with it and eating more veggies and fruit will help with your digestion. I wouldn't have coffee with it unless you are eating enough to help with the absorption rate
January 28, 2014
Not sure about the bloating, but you might avoid some chest tightness and anxiety by not drinking coffee with it; otherwise you're taking two stimulants (Adderall and caffeine) at the same time. If you still have chest tightness or anxiety, you might consider a beta blocker; 40 mg propranolol once or twice a day has been great for me. Of course, IANAD, and you should talk to yours.
Frank  |  January 19, 2014
Hey bub. Your "gastric motility" ground to a stand still. Basically, Adderall causes your body to shift blood used by your gusts to digest food to your skeletal muscle, preparing your body for action. Exercising and increases water intake can help here- as a matter of fact, they will probably be the fist thing your doc suggests. Otherwise he'll prescribe Reglan (which can cause permanent tremors in your hands) or Miralax. Water will reduce the bloating and gas too. Tums is ok if you hydrate.
